Behind The Scenes: The Battle Game That Entrepreneurs Play Daily
What it feels like to be an entrepreneur
If you're an entrepreneur, whether you're working on your business, in your business, or outside of your business, you are going to experience mental fatigue.
Every day feels like an uphill battle that you have to challenge and work through. Each day is like climbing a mountain, and you may ask yourself if you're going to give up or if you should pick another mountain.
But here's the thing: that's the game of entrepreneurship.
Forget about the fancy life people talk about—the freedom to work for yourself. Those are just tricky marketing tactics that make you dream of reaching the top of the mountain.
There is no such thing as the top of the mountain (in fact, it’s lonely there).
When you're an entrepreneur, every day you are essentially trying to solve a problem inside the business.
It's not about accomplishing a single goal; it's about filling the holes, closing the gaps in your knowledge, meeting the right people, building the right systems, and solving key problems in areas such as sales, marketing, customer service, and time management.
That's where entrepreneurship comes into play: you get to sit down and solve business problems. To prepare yourself mentally, physically, and morally, you need to manage the main thing—your energy.
The key is to manage your energy constantly, guiding it toward the right things. If you accept that you are the main problem solver inside the business, you cannot waste your energy on people who zap your time, even family members.
If a customer requests a refund, talking to a friend or even a mentor about that problem won't solve it. That’s not the main priority. The main priority is to talk to the customers, ask them for feedback, and use that information to improve your customer service so you can serve them better if they decide to come back.
Building a business is a daily effort of figuring out what the main problem is, how to solve it, who the right person to solve it is, when it can be solved, and what's the next challenges.
You are the one who takes care of the main problems, challenges, and obstacles.
If you’re lucky, you will find people who believe in you and join your journey.
But that's not how it starts. It’s never like that.
So when you decide this is the game you want to play, set the right expectations, roll up your sleeves, and get to work.
