Start Here

Welcome to The Ricky Thai.

A business newsletter where I get to share with you all the knowledge, secrets, and business-building frameworks I’ve learned and applied across my investments, portfolios, and start-up companies.

Here’s what I mean:

Entrepreneurs go through:

  • The wins

  • The loses

  • The breakdowns

  • The lessons

  • The framework that actually work.

  • The days where things go wrong—and how you bounce back.

I’ve been through all the ups and downs, and on this platform, I’m sharing the full story with you.

Why I Started This

The Ricky Thai is my space to share in real-time as I build and invest in businesses.

So you don’t have to learn everything the hard way like I did.

How We Got Here

I dropped out of my PhD program in Economics (I still got my Master’s degree, by the way) to dive into the real world of business — starting with a financial application for finance professionals to analyze stocks (which failed). Then I invested my own $10,000 and grew it into a $100,000 portfolio, with no additional capital, through value investing.

I also built my business education company — Thai Academy — where I get to tutor, coach, and counsel business students and professionals throughout their academic and career journeys.

What’s Different Now

I’m documenting everything.
No filters.
Just what’s real.
And I’m sharing it with you through every single post.

Principles that I follow that still lasts.

When I was 19, I read a book called Pyramid of Success by John Wooden — the legendary coach who won 10 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championships in just 12 years. In the book, he described how building your own principles through a pyramid framework, not only makes them strong, but makes them last.

Every large structure built throughout human history eventually collapses — but the pyramid still stands.

So I figured… I’d better build one of my own.

So welcome to The Ricky Thai.

No fluff. No play-acting.

Just a guy who’s building and investing in businesses and sharing things to you.
I say all this not to impress you, but to invite you.

Because if you’re building something real and invest in something that can last, then you don’t need gurus.

You just need a friendly guide who’s still in the arena.

Let’s build and invest in business together!
